The Federal Council has presented a draft for a Swiss trust law. The consultation on the draft law has been completed.
Initial Situation
Swiss residents have a legitimate interest in using trusts to plan their estates, optimize their tax situation and safeguard their assets. So far, the trust has not been regulated in Swiss law. However, foreign trusts are widely used in practice. They have been recognized in Switzerland since the Hague Trust Convention came into force 2007.
